Electronic Medical Record In-Basket Communication Improvements

In healthcare communication between the patient and care team is essential to high quality outcomes and increased satisfaction of the care team members and the patients. This project will focus on optimizing team-based care to meet the needs of the patients and improve job satisfaction for providers and staff. A large part of this care takes place between visits, through phone calls, MyChart messages, and other means; most of that communication finds its way to the team through the Epic inbasket or my chart messages. Effective team-based care generates a need for frequent and intensive communication within the team, most of which is currently funneled through the Epic inbasket and MyChart messages. Getting this communication right is essential to patient safety, hiqh-quality outcomes, and the satisfaction of the care team members.
