Applications for the CHA 2026-2027 Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators are now open!

The CHA Office of Academic Affairs is very pleased to support tuition for up to 3 members of our credentialed medical or allied health staff to attend the Harvard Macy Institute (HMI) 2026-2027 Program for Educators in the Health ProfessionsWe will consider an applicant who is not a credentialed medical or allied health staff member but whose project directly relates to the education of CHA learners (students, trainees, providers etc.). Such individuals should notify us prior to applying. An academic appointment is not necessary for consideration.

Applicants must be able to commit to attendance for the entire program.  Program Dates:

Please carefully review program details on the HMI Program for Educators webpage.  Participation is project-based, and the applicant’s institutional project must have full support of their department chief, service-line leader and/or senior leadership. Applicants must already have an educational leadership role which allows them to implement their project. Furthermore, they must articulate how the program is likely to advance their overall career development at CHA.

We require a letter of support (up to ½ page) from the chief of your department or their designee stating how attendance at this program will support your career development and commenting on the importance of your project. Please inform your chief of this requirement and ask them to email their letter to us at oaa@challiance.org by the application due date of 5/18/26 at 5 pm. Please give them sufficient notice to complete this task.

As the HMI Program has agreed to accept our internally selected candidates, we have an internal selection process which requires completing the following Google form by 5/18/26 at 5 pm.  Submissions sent after the deadline will not be considered, and we strongly encourage you to have your application completed and submitted at least 24 hours prior to the deadline. Applications must be filled out in one sitting. Therefore, we recommend you type your answers in a Google Doc prior to submitting. Please make sure you adhere to any word counts listed. When you have your final answers ready, copy and paste into the sections and submit!

Office of Academic Affairs-funded HMI scholars will be expected to join our new CHA Academy of Educators (applications in late spring),  and to submit a project poster for the CHA-wide Poster Session. CHA Harvard Macy Scholars may also be asked to participate in next year’s review committee.

If you are interested in speaking with a CHA colleague about their experience in the program, the following are recent scholars: Sumera Bukhari, Emma Cooke, Rajaram Pattar, and Analise Peleggi.
