The Harvard Macy Institute brings together health care professionals, educators, and leaders to discuss the critical challenges of the day and design innovative solutions that have a lasting impact on the way medicine is practiced and students are educated.

The CHA Center for Professional and Academic Development is very pleased to be able to support tuition for one member of our credentialed medical or allied health staff to attend the Harvard Macy Institute (HMI) 2025 Leading Innovations in Health Care & Education Program (in-person June 1-6, 2025). An academic appointment is not necessary for consideration.

Please carefully review program details on the HMI Leading Innovations webpage.  Participation is project-based, and the applicant’s institutional project must have full support of their department chief, service-line leader and/or senior leadership. A letter of support from their Department Chief or member must be submitted at the time of application. Applicants must already have an institutional leadership role which allows them to implement their project. The applicant’s project must fully align with existing institutional leadership frameworks, including those connected to our High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiative. Furthermore, they must articulate how the program is likely to advance their overall career development at CHA.

As the HMI Program has agreed to accept our internally selected candidates, we have an internal selection process which requires completing the following Google form by Friday, January 31, 2025 at 5:00pm ET. Submissions sent after the deadline will not be considered. Applications must be filled out in one sitting. Therefore, we recommend you type your answers in a Google Doc prior to submitting. Please make sure you adhere to any word counts listed. When you have your final answers ready, copy and paste into the sections and submit!

The CHA HMI scholar will be expected to share their project accomplishments at the CHA-wide Poster session and with the CHA Academic Council. The scholar may also be asked to participate in next year’s review committee.

Those not selected for CHA funding may still apply directly to the Harvard Macy Program and, if accepted, fund their own tuition in another manner.

If you are interested in speaking with a CHA colleague about their experience in the program, the following are recent graduates: Hsiang Huang (Psychiatry), Marie-Louise Jean-Baptiste (Medicine), Hans Van Lancker, (Orthopedic Surgery)  Maria Alexandra Ordonez (Urology), Annalise Peleggi (Child Psychiatry) and Lisa Rosenfeld (Psychiatry)

The Program for Educators in Health Professions course takes place annually in the fall. The call for applications is issued in March.
