Ending the Revolving Door of Inpatient Admissions for Addictions: strengthening inpatient OUD management, interdisciplinary provider collaboration, and links to long-term outpatient MAT
The project will help end the revolving door of hospital admissions related to substance abuse and help support patients more long-term in their journey of recovery. It will focus on three avenues: enhancing education among inpatient staff (hospitalists, residents, social workers, recovery coaches, nursing) around inpatient management of OUD, creating a pathway to transitioning patients from an inpatient setting to long-term medication-assisted treatment, and enhancing systems-level collaboration across specialties and across health care settings to treat patients with OUD.
